Character Death

One of the hardest scenes for me to write is a character death that just so happens to be one of my favorites. You would think, as the writer, you could change it, but the sad reality of it all is that you really can’t most times. It has to happen in order to further the plot. In the beginning, I knew a lot of my favorites were going to die… *sigh* But it doesn’t make it any easier to write. When my book finally ends, I’ll probably be sobbing somewhere in a corner. It’s the ones left behind that get me every time.

Writing is hard.

Have you ever had to kill off one of your MCs/favorites in your book? If so, how did you feel when writing the scene? I know I’m an emotional mess when it comes to things like this, but I know other writers handle things differently.

  1. Personally, I haven’t written a character’s death yet, but I may be doing it soon. The character I’ll be killing off is not one I’m attached to, so I kind of feel meh about it. However, if I had to a kill character that I’ve grown with in the story, then I would cry. I would cry, a lot. I don’t want them to die =(
